The medicine game
Finally we finished our trainee intern year
we are crossing the line between being students and being real DOCTORS
Finally we are doctors....!
Tommorrow: I will become a slave for a more senior doctor
Yes, I realised that late
7 years late to be exact
I will be a well paid slave
following the senior
Finding lost files and folders
Carrying 5 of them in each hand
Scribing for my boss while he chats with patients and nurses
20 words per second
and they dare blame me for my bad writing skills....
Then I will spend a fair amount of my life turning their orders into actions
"Bring me this patients old notes"
"Give this patient a PR exam"
"Speak to the non-existing orthopeadics registrar"
"Ask the social worker to profelactically see all our patients ASAP"
etc...
Finally we are doctors....!
Tommorrow: I will meet patients
every patient has his own interesting story
a story that changes twice per second
I will try my best
I will present a good story to my Boss
My Boss who will try really hard to stop me from killing patients
He might reduce the number of patients that I'm going to kill
or he may delay it from happening
But it is written in the book of fate
we will kill people
Finally we are doctors....!
Tommorrow: I will plant horror into my seniors heart
Yes, Tommorrow
When I start prescribing drugs
My favourite friends
Paracetamol, zopiclone, cyclizine and laxatives
I will also self prescribe and become an addict myself
I will play around with humans parameters and vital signs
I will raise the nurses systolic blood pressure with a few words
That patient is sleepy for 2 days because of the codeine I gave him
This patient had an overdose of IV-iron Shshsh he doesn't know yet
Thank God he prepared human bodies to endure the worst medical mistakes of the worst doctors

Don't feel bad new doctors, If I made it then you will make it
Nothing worse than calling the surgical registrar during his operation
asking him what to give a patient with low potassium of 3.0
